Groton Community Home Tour 2008 Q&A Q. What is the date and time of the Home Tour? A. The home tour will be held on Saturday, November 22nd with a snow date of Sunday, November 23rd. Groton Community School will open at 8:30 am for check-in, program pick-up, purchasing chance tickets and visiting the vendor/artisan tables at the school. Refreshments will be available at the school beginning at 8:30 am. Homes will open their doors at 10:00am and close at 4:00pm. All Home Tour participants must check-in at the school the morning of the tour. Q. What is the cost of a ticket? A. Tickets purchased in advance of the event cost: $35.00 (Green Ticket) includes admission and a boxed lunch provided by The Groton Trading Company or $25.00 (Red Ticket) for admission only. Tickets purchased on the day of the event will cost $30.00 (tour only) and will be available at Groton Community School only. Please make checks payable to Groton Community School. Q. When will tickets be available for purchase?
A. Ticket order forms are posted online. Ticket merchants will begin selling tickets on October 6th as well.
Q. Can I buy tickets on the day of the event? A. Yes, the ticket price will be $30.00 – an extra $5.00 from the advance ticket price and will not include lunch. These tickets can only be purchased at Groton Community School, located at 110 Boston Road in Groton on November 22nd beginning at 8:30 am. Q. What if I lose my ticket before the event? Will I still be able to get in? A. If tickets are purchased through local merchants, as long as you filled out your name and address on the ticket stub and can provide us with an ID on the day of the event, you will be able to attend the Tour. We encourage people to put their tickets in a safe and easy-to-remember location to avoid lost or misplaced tickets. Q. Can I get a refund on my ticket if I change my mind or don’t attend? A. No refunds will be given for unused tickets. Q. What’s in the box lunch from The Groton Trading Company? A. The boxed lunch includes a choice of grilled chicken salad wrap (with dried cranberries, celery, mayo & field greens) or vegetarian wrap (with hummus, feta, cucumbers, field greens & dill raita), a gourmet side salad, a petit four, and bottled water. No nuts or nut products are in either lunch. Q. Can I buy a box lunch from Filho’s on the day of the event? A. No, only pre-paid box lunches will be available for pick-up on the day of the event at Groton Community School (between 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.). The Groton Trading Company would certainly welcome diners at its location on Main Street in Groton, but you won’t find a better deal than the box lunch! If you want to secure your lunch plans for that day, we encourage you to purchase the $35.00 Tour & lunch ticket. Lunch reservations are required by November 7th. Q. How can I get more information? A. All information is on the GCS website at www.grotoncommunityschool.org. Any updated information regarding the Tour will be posted to the site. Q. What homes are on the Tour? A. For security reasons and to uphold the homeowners’ privacy before the event, that information cannot be disclosed. However, a general description of each home will be posted on the website at www.grotoncommunityschool.org. Q. How will I know what houses are on the Tour? A. A complete Home Tour guide booklet will be available to pick up at Groton Community School on the day of the event anytime after 8:30 a.m. The booklet will contain information on each home on the Tour and provide a map and directions to each location. Q. Can I bring my child (or children) with me on the Tour? A. Although we understand that securing child care is sometimes difficult, the Home Tour is open to adults only. By promoting the Tour well in advance of the date, we hope that allows people enough time to find coverage for any child care needs on the day of the event. Q. Will Groton Community School provide any child care assistance on the day of the event? A. No, the school will be busy providing food and refreshments in the morning and lunch in the afternoon, as well as playing host to several vendors and artisans for Tour attendees to do some holiday shopping. Q. Can you tell me more about the artisans and vendors involved with the Tour? A. At least two artisans or vendors will be set up in each home on the Tour with additional craftspeople and direct sellers located at Groton Community School. Items being sold include jewelry, pottery, custom designed pocketbooks, jellies, and other handmade decorative wares. For a complete listing of the participating artisans and vendors please consult the website. Q. What forms of payment will the artisans and vendors accept? A. All artisans and vendors will accept cash and checks. Q. Can I park my car at the school and then carpool with friends? A. We definitely encourage people to carpool, but we ask that you don’t park any extra cars at the school due to limited space. Q. What if it snows on the day of the event? Will it still be held? A. Sunday, November 23rd is the official snow date if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather.
