Dear GCS Families,
We are excited to share upcoming April events with you! Next week we are celebrating NAEYC’s Week of the Young Child, spreading the word about the importance of early childhood education, and celebrating children, families, and those who work with them! We also have an amazing event for GCS Families over Spring Break! To keep you in the loop, we are sharing some news so you can SAVE THE DATES for these special events!
1) Solar Eclipse 2024 – Monday, April 8th from 2:15 to 4:40 PM
To kick off our Week of the Young Child celebration at GCS, Mother Nature has an exciting event for us! Teachers will coordinate an adult volunteer or two in the classrooms to permit peeking in small groups at the solar eclipse safely. GCS will provide solar glasses* for children in class that afternoon. Parents/guardians must sign the permission form below to permit their child to view the eclipse with adult supervision.
2) GCS Apparel Sale – Monday – Friday, April 8th – 12th
Show your school spirit by ordering GCS apparel and merchandise, and get ready for GCS Spirit Days later on this spring. Some items will be cash and carry!

3) Children’s Puppet Performances – Friday, April 12th at 11 AM and 1:15 PM.
Classes will enjoy a special puppet story time with Leigh Baltzer, Puppeteer. Leigh will share stories related to our “Together We’re Stronger!” school-wide theme! Children who only attend school on Tuesdays and Thursdays are invited to the 1:15 PM performance with their families.
4) Groton Hill Music Event for GCS Families – Wednesday, April 17th, from 4 to 5 PM
Don’t miss a very special event for GCS Families at Groton Hill Music over Spring Break! Children and their families will take a tour of the music center, and explore musical instruments with Groton Hill Music Staff. Please RSVP to events@grotoncommunityschool.org by Friday, April 5th with the number of children and adults who will attend!
