The Search was ON!  While Groton Community School was unable to offer our Groton Community Home Tour, due to health and safety mandates, a safe and exciting community outing was still possible!

Thank you to those who attended this year’s Groton Community Tour!  We hope you enjoyed our day of fun for all ages with a community tour scavenger hunt, a self-guided driving tour highlighting local history and promoting small business while combining many of the favorite elements of our traditional Home Tour. The Groton Community Tour was held on October 17, 2020.

It started outdoors at Groton Community School (14 Main Street, Groton) where attendees collected Community Tour materials, and had the opportunity to buy tickets to take a chance on winning amazing prizes.  From there the adventure began! Teams deciphered clues leading them to approximately 15 mystery destinations to collect kite stamps in their event guide book.  Some locations offered an outdoor activity or challenge to complete a task.  There was even a clue to discover a future Home Tour location! All proceeds benefited our nonprofit, early childhood center, supporting the growth and development of young children.

Participants were required to wear masks and to adhere to social-distancing mandates abiding by event markers separating parties. Hours of the event were 10:00-4:00 with staggered start times and locations to allow space between groups.

We had 20 destinations throughout our local community, who gave us access and parking, handed out souvenirs, and made our scavenger hunt possible! Participants visited local historic sites, supported local businesses, practiced “bucket filling” with acts of kindness, and engaged in creative and fun activities.
