Volunteers Taking a Leadership Role

Our voluntary Board of Directors is comprised of parents, staff, and community members who give Groton Community School direction, support, and financial guidance. The Directors support families, the day-to-day operations of the school, and high quality educational experiences. Each Board member is elected for a two-year term to assist the school in his/her role on the Board, as well as contributing to overall goals such as setting school policy and hosting annual events. Board Member positions include the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations Chair(s), Fundraising Chair(s), Building and Grounds Chair(s), Parent Representative(s), and Members-at-Large, in addition to the school Director and Assistant Director.

Board of Directors meetings are open to all of our GCS families, and are usually scheduled on the second Monday of each month at 7:30 PM. We encourage GCS parents who are interested in the Board to speak with the Director, a Board member, or to email boardofdirectors@grotoncommunityschool.org for more information.

Bringing Our GCS Community Together

One of the most important priorities for our GCS Board of Directors is welcoming families and providing possibilities for building community and connections with each other.  See below for information about fun activities for family involvement to support the school and socialize together.

GCS Playdates and Family Outings

In addition to individual classroom playdates facilitated by volunteer Room Parents, our Board of Directors plans school-wide opportunities for families at family-friendly locations in the community.

Our Board of Directors also hosts “fun-raising” activities for families and the community! These events help us strengthen our own GCS community and also raise awareness about our school in the community.

Board Social Happenings

Join Board Members in fun social opportunities, including our GCS Book Club evenings (for adults) and Walking Club on the Nashua River Rail Trail (for adults and children) in fall and spring months.  Look for details in GCS Weekly Notes emailed from the Board and through our GCS Parent Corner Facebook and Instagram Groups.
