Director Kitelet, June 2026
Dear GCS Families,
How sad, but also exciting, it is to have another wonderful school year come to a close. We have had the privilege of watching your children develop and unfold before our eyes—growing in confidence, curiosity, independence, and kindness. Along the way, they discovered new interests, learned new skills, and formed new friendships that will become treasured memories. I hope that you, as families, have also found new friendships and a sense of belonging within our Groton Community School family.
CELEBRATING LONGEVITY
Our amazing GCS staff are the cornerstone of what makes GCS such an amazing place. Each year, we celebrate milestones and this year’s special recognition goes out to:
Bonnie Stanton – 30 years
Debbie Penney – 25 years
Heidi May – 10 years
Lorie Lorusso – 5 years
Monique Meehan – 5 years
Please join me in congratulating these amazing ladies. We also want to wish Terri Martin much happiness as she steps into retirement and enjoys this next phase of her life. Terri has a special place within our hearts at GCS, and we will miss her energy and enthusiasm. We are so grateful for her 31 years of Magic and dedication.
OUR GRATITUDE
There are so many of you out there who’ve helped us along the way by volunteering your time, energy, and resources. We are also grateful to our Room Parents, Board of Directors, and Board of Trustees for helping us achieve greatness and elevate the school to be the best that it can be. We appreciate the time that many of you took to complete this year’s family survey. Be on the lookout for results in the near future.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to the Johnson Family on the birth of their daughter (brother, Linus, was in the TTh AM Blue Room) and to the Stella Family of the birth of twin boys (brother, Weston, was also in the TTh AM Blue Room).
THANK YOU!
We’d like to say a final “thanks” to the following families for their donations to GCS this past month: To Beth Condon for sidewalk chalk; the Grove family for bottled water; to Sue Lizotte for pastries for the Staff; the Marchand-Sanchez family for toys, games & curriculum materials; to Madame Katy Niose for Staff snacks; and the Sinagra family for books and crafts.
IN CLOSING
Thank you for trusting us to be part of your child’s early learning journey and for sharing in so many special moments throughout the year. To those returning in the fall or joining us for Summer Camp, we look forward to many more exciting adventures together. We do still have a few half day spaces during the month of July. Please reach out if anyone is looking to join us.
The quote that always comes to mind and beautifully reflects the essence of early childhood development states:
“Children are not things to be molded, but people to be unfolded.”
— Jess Lair
We wish you a summer filled with sunshine, laughter, exploration, and precious family time. Thank you for an amazing year. It has truly been a privilege to grow alongside your children.
