Dear GCS Families,

Happy New Year… The weather is certainly keeping us on our toes as of late with snow and freezing rain one moment, to sun and warmer temperatures the next.  Thank you for your patience with the school day delays and closings.  We know that they can be challenging with family schedules.

We hope you enjoyed reading about your child’s growth and development during this first half of the school year and meeting with their teachers on Conference Day. It is always so exciting to talk about the many successes that have taken place, as well as perhaps setting goals together for young children. Families interested in registering for programs in the fall should have received their enrollment forms and information.  If, for some reason, you do not have yours, please stop by the front desk.   We welcome questions of any kind, recommendations regarding your child, or if you are looking for clarification with regard to programming.   All registration forms are due by Friday, February 2nd to be included for in-house priority in the process. There will be a Kindergarten/Pre-Kindergarten Information evening on Thursday, February 1st at 6:30 PM for folks who may want more information about both of these programs.  Please register at the front desk if you plan on attending to help us better gauge and prepare for attendees.

Community Lecture

We are so excited to share a special evening Community Lecture for families, staff, and the community on Tuesday, March 1st with Author Suzanne Bouffard.  Suzanne is a creative writer with a degree in Developmental Psychology, and she worked as a writer/researcher for the Harvard Graduate School of Education.   She will share some highlights from her book, The Most Important Year, emphasizing the importance of early childhood education, research regarding brain development in young children, and practical take-aways for families.  It promises to be a fun, informational evening, while enjoying the company of other families and teachers.  Please look for an in-house sign-up opportunity before we open it up to the greater community.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to the Liner family on the birth of their son (sister, Julia, is in the MWF PM Yellow Room).

Thank You!

The staff would also like to thank the Board for providing morning and afternoon snacks during the week of Children’s Observation writing and to the following families for delicious holiday treats before the break in December:  The Bach family, Patty Barr, the Burke/Delucia families, the Catanese family, the Green family, the Hand family, Lorrie Morgan, the Petelle family, the Quinn family, the Snow family, and the Spar family.
