Dear GCS Families,

Happy New Year!!  We hope the year is starting off with some fun and good health for families.  While the cold, snow, and ice are all making their appearances, there isn’t quite enough of that white fluffy stuff to cover our playground sledding hill.   It takes a lot of hard work, patience, and coordination on a child’s part to carry a bag bigger than themselves through a crowded classroom and then manipulate a small body to completely dress in gear for outside time. One would hope that there was at least a sledding hill with snow waiting for them on the other side of that classroom door to make their efforts worthwhile.  A child’s day of play is work… no doubt!   Last week was mud, let’s see what this week brings.  Thankfully there is still plenty of space for riding trikes, role playing in the pretend houses, and making music on our outdoor instruments, as well as making visits to see things growing in the greenhouse.

Children’s Observations

I hope you enjoyed reading about your child’s growth and development through this first half of the school year in their mid-year observations.  So much fun and learning has taken place.  Please take pride in the many accomplishments in your child’s development and cherish all the special moments.  School is where your child is learning to be strong, wise, independent, courageous, creative, and the list goes on and on.  We will be closed this Friday, January 27th, for a special day of family conferences.  We will have coffee and danish available to you, as well as childcare in the BIG Room (8am to Noon & 1 to 4:3pm).  Communication with families is so important for a good school experience, and we look forward to sharing with you all.
