Our 75th School Year!
Groton Community School is delighted to welcome children and families for a new school year, our 75th! While things will look and feel a bit different in light of COVID-19, we are still committed to our philosophy and all the values and priorities that make GCS such a special place and community. We are holding true to our mission:
Groton Community School is an early childhood center committed to interacting with each child as a unique individual and dedicated to giving each child and his/her family the most positive first school experience.
After a small – but very successful summer program – we have gained confidence in putting health and safety measures in place , in accordance with all early childhood education licensing and state business requirements. We will still enjoy warm interactions, a community feeling, and our dedication to teaching peace and kindness, while offering a welcoming learning environment and high quality curriculum for children.
Classes will have staggered openings, beginning on Wednesday, September 9th through Friday, September 11th. Please see below.
Our Family Orientation Days – prior to the first day for each class – will be on Tuesday, September 8th and Wednesday, 9th. Our Staff is eagerly looking forward to greeting returning families and meeting new ones! Small groups of children and families are invited to join us for outdoor, physically distanced class gatherings to meet their child’s teacher and a few of their classmates. Should the weather not cooperate, we will hold Zoom meetings instead.
Groton Community School is beginning 2020-2021 full of optimism with the promise of a new school year, while also fully acknowledging the importance of doing all that we can to ensure the health and safety of our children, families, and staff.
