Dear GCS Families,

As usual, the start of the school year has just flown by. We are feeling quite settled in our new space; growing, learning, and meeting new friends each day. With the help of some GCS supporters, we have been slowly putting the finishing touches on our new library space. We are excited to share the new furniture and art work and for the children to experience the space for shared reading experiences, special projects, and collaborative projects.

Halloween Happenings Recap

Classrooms have certainly been exploring the signs and seasonal changes of fall. There were pumpkins, festive decorations, and celebrations throughout the school. It was great fun seeing the creative and wide array of pajamas that came through the front door over the past couple of days. Thank you to everyone for the many kind donations of breakfast items that will be shared with Loaves and Fishes, a local food bank, next week. With so many of our children here at GCS so very fortunate, it is a good time to help those in need with the basic of food items. Having a healthy breakfast is something most of us take for granted. Thank you to families for helping to support our goal of teaching kindness and caring for others. Stay tuned for the final results of collection after our delivery next week.

Fall Phone Calls

I hope you all had the opportunity to talk with your child’s teacher during Fall Phone Calls. Communication is so important to us here at GCS, and we appreciate the time to connect and share developmental goals and accomplishments with you, as well as any concerns. Please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time during the school year for questions, thoughts, or conversation.

“Fun”draising

With the hustle and bustle of the holidays inevitably on its way, don’t forget to use your Amazon Smile, buy your Scrip Gift Cards (coming soon), and get ready to shop at our upcoming Groton Community Home Tour, which promises to be an experience all on its own. We do still need a few more volunteers; so if you have a few hours and want to have some fun and help GCS out at the same time, please let us know. We have both morning and afternoon volunteer shifts available.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to the Nitti family on the birth of their daughter, Hannah (brother, Will, is in the MWF AM Blue Room).

Thank You!

Our thanks to Beth Christoforo and Sarah Laverdure for enhancing our front entrance with Autumn décor this month.

Thank you to our parent volunteers for their refreshment contributions for the September Trustee Meeting, the October Annual General Meeting, and also for our Staff Curriculum Day this week: Katie Bach, Jessica Barie, Kathy Bellorado, Jen Burke, Beth Christoforo, Amanda Gagnon, Leslie Howard, Cindi Lane-Hand, Elizabeth Ly, Stephanie Mandra, Shelby Morris, Mairead Orpen, Hannah Pugh, Christine Seero, McKenzie Taub, and Cathy Wong.

We’d also like to thank the following families for their various donations to the school: The Desmond/Ruggles family for staff snacks from Gingerbread Construction Co., the Harley family for card stock, the Kaskan & Lynde families for craft supplies & books, Regie Messamore for a children’s book, the Patel family for Diwali gifts for the staff, and to the Shah family for spare pull-ups.

A special thank you to Peter Myette and Great Road Farm & Garden in Littleton for moving a part of our beloved “pick-up bench” to our new location on which the children sit during dismissal time.

Until next time,
